As Dean, Felker initiated programs to help women develop leadership skills. Purdue created the annual Felker Leadership Series to honor the former Dean, who died suddenly in 1992.
While he was Dean at Purdue, he served on the NEAFCS Board as an advisor. At that same time, I was privileged to serve on the Board as a committee chair as well as on the Extension staff at Purdue. In his capacity of advisor to the Board, Dean Felker was intent on keeping us focused on the financial aspects of the organization.
The Dean Don Felker Financial Management Award, named in his honor, is given to recognize the development of financial management programs which help individuals and families make decisions and plans for their present and future needs.
