State Recipes from the Living Well Book
WashingtonRaspberry-Rhubarb SlumpIn 2008, Washington grew over 53 million pounds of raspberries, which thrive in the relatively cool, marine climate west of the Cascades. The Crimson Red variety of rhubarb is grown commercially. The arid and semi-arid land east of the Cascade Mountains is home to vineyards and vast orchards producing pears, peaches, cherries, apricots and apples, the state's largest crop. More than half of all apples grown in the US for fresh eating come from Washington. |
