State Recipes from the Living Well Book
MissouriBlackberry CobblerBlackberries, one of Missouri's favorite native wild berries, ripen around July fourth, and part of the fun of picking is eating raw berries. While picking berries has its hardships, briars and chiggers, the victory is well worth the pain of endurance! Cobblers are so named due to their 'cobbled' appearance. Cobblers created in pioneer days were prepared in a cast iron Dutch oven with a lid holding hot coals set on top of the pan. |
